Intermittantly dies@#! Argggggg!
The 944 has on two occasionls just quit today. Once while shifting to 4th on the highway, and again after stopping at the mall. It cooled a bit and later started, but I can't make heads or tails of this. Searching this board and looking at Clark's Garage leads me to believe it may be the DME relay. Fuel pressure regulator, speed/reference sensors could also be the problem, but the symptoms don't seem as pronounced as those I've experienced.
When she died, she died, out of the blue, no warning, no sputtering, no nothing. What do you think?

I would start with speed/reference sensors, free to check =)
If it doesn't sputter or anything like that, it sounds like it's losing spark. When it won't start, does the tach move when you turn it over?

Id put money on the DME relay, I had the same thing happening to my car. Try tapping on the DME and then starting it.
Having and extra relay is a good idea I am told. |

This is nearly always the DME or a sketchy Speed/Ref sensor connection. Check both, it's not a hard fix.

Since it didn't sputter or anything, I'm leaning away from a fuel-related problem, unless the injectors quit firing altogether. I've had a few clogged fuel filters, and usually the car will idle, but once you get the revs up, they start missing really badly.

Finally. It's just the DME relay--easy and it runs like a champ. Bought two. One to replace the bad one and one for the glove compartment!
Thanks for the advice folks. This board has saved me big bucks over the years!!
