6 blade fans.

i finally got around to swapping out my 3 blade fans, for the 6 blade ones. well, quite a difference i must say. now my car does not sound like a hovercraft, when they switch on. its so quiet, i can hardly hear them at all. very nice. i also notice that they are much more efficient, than the old ones, as they only run for a very short time, b4 switching off, and the temp gauge is way down.
i changed the bearings a while ago, in the old ones, and it did quiet them down a bit, but nothing like the new ones.
bob.

Hmm, that's good to hear. Did you get used fans, or new fans? I have a friend with an 83 that has a 3 blade fan, and I've been trying to talk him into switching to the 6 blade fans. Mind if I ask what it cost you to switch?

Another little question. His 83 has a single 3 blade fan, would it be possible to replace it with a single 6 blade fan?... or would he have to go to 2 6 blade fans?

I upgraded a poorly runnin g3 blade fan with a used 6 blade fan. It made quite the improvement in sound and cooling ability.

i had one squealy 3 blader and traded out the shrouds from the 3's to the 6's and didn't try to put a 6er in the 3 blade hole.

i got used fans thru here.

the original plugs worked and now when i shutdown, i hear one fan running on low speed, drivers side, cooling the water to keep from bursting the hoses on the later models.

when the temp gets just above the 1st line/80 or a/c is on, both fans come on hi speed.

hmmm, dont know about the model with the one fan, i'm guessing that all you have to do is to substitute one for the other. yes, i bought the fans and motors, from the parts listings. gdjones, and todd84, both have helped me enormously, and the prices are good too.
incidentally, i used the original 3 blade shroud, and it works out ok.

Shrouds are the same. If you have to buy a new fan you can only buy the six bladed units. The blades are not interchangeable. I've seen it tried with disasterous results. The blade hub was drilled and seriously out of balance.

Put the six bladed fans at the top of your update list for the older 944's.
