'87 944 gas mileage

Im thinking of buying a nice clean '87 944.....

what kind of fuel economy should I expect?

Im buying this so I dont run up the miles on my tow vehicle, and both my 911 and 914 are racecars

I usually get like 450 or so on a tank but i cant remember how big the tank is. I think its 20 gallons which is like 22-23 MPG

Depending on what's been done, 25-30 mpg.

My 924S got 25 mpg no matter how I drove it, but somewhere along the line someone had shortened the gearing in the transaxle because 5th was not as tall as it was supposed to be.

My '89 944 gets about 25 mpg too, but it has been tweaked a bit and runs slightly rich.

IF I keep my foot out of it, my 951 gets 28hwy and 23 city. My brother's 944na gets similar results.

My 86 gets 11L/100km city, and 6L/100km highway. It goes well over 1000km's on a tank on the highway, but I really keep off it. I always drive pretty much exactly the speed limit on the highway.

I think I set the 944 record for highway mileage, lol.

Seems to me most of them get 8L/100km on the highway, which is pretty respectable if you ask me. That's about 1000km's if you run the tank right dry, so about 800km's before the light comes on.

Wow, 1000 km == 621 miles, that's freaking awesome. I thought Brad had the record before that, I think he said he got 500 miles on a tank once. Awesome work, very impressive

Should get nearly 30 on the highway and mid 20's in town if everything is in working order (O2 sensor might need to be replaced, but that's pretty much a "wear" item and if it's never been replaced it should be just because of age).
