procarparts.com guages
Has anyone installed the 944 gauge faces from procarparts.com? What do you think? Were they easy to install? Did they come with full instructions?

BTW, here's a link to one of the many, many auctions on eBay:

I'd like to hear from anyone that's installed them as well...
1) How do the needles show up at night? Most cars with gauges like this from the factory have semi-transparent orange needles that light up from behind. Is this a big issue? 2) do the factory warning lights that shine through the gauge faces still work OK? Personally I think the idea is cool as heck, but the silver looks so "rice" (why not black or white?) and I hate to say it, I get the impression that the sellers are leaning a little towards rice as well... maybe I'm wrong but I tend to be a bit skeptical when I get that impression, because often you end up with a product that looks cool but doesn't always perform as well as you'd hoped. nate

just look at their other auctions... they definitely are trying to hit the rice market. Not to say anything bad about the gauge faces, they could be totally fine. But, they're rice-supporters.

I agree with the rice comment, but I really only care if the guages themselves are decent. He has massive positive feedback, so I might take a chance. He had 8 other colors, so I'm sure one of them will look nice in my 944. I'm really most concerned about how hard it is to see the gauges at night.

I went a good couple of weeks with no gauge lights at night.. it's not that bad, just pay attention to what gear you are in and you can pretty much tell how fast you are going, and when the low fuel light comes on, that's when you know to go get gas.

I think they ought to work fine if they are as advertised in terms of reading the gauge faces, but I would be concerned about the needles being visible.
BTW I have restored some gauges for older cars and have found some hobby paint that does a spendiferous job of renewing the orange colored gauge needles. It's made by plasti-kote and the color is called "orange glow." it's available in both spray cans and brush-on, I use a brush for gauge needles because it actually flows fairly well. nate

I agree with the "rice" comment. If you want to freshen up the guauges, I suggest adding chrome rings. I recall seeing them on ebay awhile back, and they looked classy.

I hate white faced gauges during the day, but the look that those appear to give at night I love. You probably wont run into a problem. Let us know, because i am considering getting those, if/when i have the money for it.
