Question Upgrading rear brakes

Has anyone installed rear 993TT (big red) brake calipers on the rear of their 944 to compliment the big reds out front? Or maybe just the rears of a 993 non-turbo?
Would you run the same brake rotor in the back?
Just thinking (typing) out loud...

The 928S4 brakes (ala the 951S) is a better route to go, IMHO.

I have the stock Brembo 4-piston calipers and they suite me fine - on the street and on the track.

I agree. The S4 brakes are very very good brakes. The others you are looking into might be a little over-kill and much more expensive! Just my thoughts as well!

928S4 brakes are the same as 944 Turbo S? To clarify, they are NOT the same as other year 944 Turbo brakes? Where do S2 brakes fall?

Yes, 928S4 front calipers are the same as the 944TS front calipers.

Compared to standard 951 (1985-1988 non-TS) and S2 front calipers, the S4/TS calipers are larger (to allow for a bigger rotor size) and have larger pistons. They have a radial bolt pattern for attachment verses the horizontal bolt pattern that the standard 951/S2 cars have. This necessitates the use of adapter blocks or 951TS spindles to mount the calipers.

The S4 calipers first appeared (on 951 cars) on the 1987 951 cup cars, then were incorporated into the 1988TS cars. The 1989 cars got them as standard equipment.

What is the difference in the 928 S4 brakes and the "Big Blacks"?

Big Blacks have larger pistons and are designed for larger rotors. People often call S4 calipers "big blacks", but that is incorrect.
