brake fluid

Drove the car today and the brake fluid light came on. It read at the min. mark so I filled it up to the max spot. I have no idea how I lost the brake fluid. Maybe a brake line becaus I doubt it came from the calipers and it was clear of fluid under the hood. Where should I check and what should I look for? Also I know I have an oil leak but I'm not sure how to test for it, any ideas?

Usual brake fluid leak is from the clutch master cylinder. Look at the pedal and the carpet and you'll see it. Replace the master and slave cylinders and the blue hose from the reservoir. Be careful when bleeding it, a power bleeder makes life easier.
Obviously you should also inspect the brake system. If the pads are worn enough the fluid level will be low.

When the vehicle was serviced you would have got a report of any oil leaks. Check all possible places that it could leak from. Use a flashlight and mirror as needed.

Yeah, def check the interior by the clutch for fluid. I posted about the same thing last week. I thought it might have been a light malfunction because when i was looking at the reservoir in the dark, it looked full. Probably shouldnt have been checkin it in the dark. But a few people posted it was probably the master cyl, and sure enough 2 days later my floor got slippery. I see youre from lagrange, thats where i used to live. Apparently the cold is not so good for the clutch master cylinder, which is something ive read in other posts.

Anyway, if it is the master, i took mine to Mike and Henrys on Ogden and Willow Springs because i didnt have time this week to figure out if i could do it myself. I would reccomend asking them if they care if you buy the part and bring it in. You can get it on pelican for like 60, but they charged me 120. I have a lot of work done there, and they never care if i bring my own parts. However sometimes their parts guy is a lot cheaper than pelican. Then in other cases hes more expensive. I havent figured out the reasons for this but in this case i got screwed for being too lazy to ask them and shop around.

hope this helps, but i also hope its not one of the clutch cylinders

For what it's worth, the brake fluid level will drop normally over time, as the pads wear. I don't know how much it will drop, or how fast, but maybe that's part of the loss?

I am having the same problem but there is no leak or wettness near the clutch. Where else Could it be leaking that I can check for? I seem to have to refill it every other week or so.

Still more than likely the clutch master cylinder is leaking. It's the most common leakage point. You have to look inside the car at the back of the clutch master cylinder to check. There is usually brake fluid over the pedal assembly and behind the carpet.
