Clever Lead-In

If you were to take an early 944, all stock, in top condition, what percentage of new cars do you think it would out-perform?

Well we know it's not a power house so consider handling, style, and craftsmanship.

It would beat most other small disp. 4 cycl, like a civic or a corolla in a straight line, I have been able to hold with a S2000 he was only about 2-3 car lengths ahead. Also been able to run with some modified sabb turbo's in street races. Handling is great on theses cars I raced with my dads 350Z track addition and help my own but the Z has way more HP. I love the style and II dont think there is anything to compare it to

On a racetrack, I think the 944 would still outperform most "sporty" coupes like the Celica, GTi, etc, and would probably run with the BMW 3-series and Audi A4.

Road manners are the key.

I would agree with the handling and style. As for the craftsmanship, I have certain reservations

I beat a brand new Nissan Altima 2.5 two weeks ago in a straight line. I know both cars have same engine displacement and cylinders but his car was 20 years newer than mine and I totally kicked its ass : )

look, the 944 might not be the fastest car in a straight line by new sports car standards, but keep in mind that like all Porsches (Cayenne excluded), the 944 was developed out of racing. They were designed with speed in mind.

How much does an Altima weigh, anyhow? Those things ain't tiny... and your early 944 tips the scales at just about 2700 lbs without the driver.

I blew away a cement mixer, stop light to stop light last week.
I think the only reason I beat him, was that he had a full load of cement.
