FR, you have mail. Looks like it's time for me to get chipped before it's too late.

So if I have an earlier 944 i would need one of these to install a powerprom? What if I installed a Dual EPROM...would i still need to buy the adaptor?

Porsche Crest

FRWilk....I need one of the powerprom's and the dual EPROM adaptor boards... Would you mind setting a dual EPROM adaptor aside for me. Otherwise I wont be able to get the powerprom chip...My name is Dan Pendleton and Ill have the money relatively soon....I would really appreciate it and will look forward to doing business with you. Oh I was also wondering if the dual EPROM and powerprom are hard to install?

My email adress is: DJP944@hotmail.com

Please do this favor for me....
I will fill out an order form as soon as possible.

Thank you very much

I emailed FR about that earlier today, and he said yes, you can buy them separately.

Not trying to bash FR, but, seriously, anyone out there with an early 944 have success with this upgrade? I know the later 944's, which do not need the adapter board, have been highly praised... BUT I have yet to hear of anyone with an early 944 having complete success... would like to hear from users on this... pros & cons..
What other DME upgrades have been used on the early 944's with success? input?

Instead of replacing the transistor, you had someone rip the working adapter board from one DME and put it in a second working DME. Now you have 2 nonworking DMEs and a nonworking adapter board.
So then, in your opinion, the dual chips are still okay? Only the adapter board is broken? If that's the case, can the board be repaired? I have another working DME in the shop now.

BTW, still have not heard from other early 944 owners who have been successful... how about it guys?

btsave ^ on his page he has emails from people about how the chip worked, theres a guy on their with a 84 praising that it worked very well

ok so FR, if i got the single chip adaptor board, it would come with the shudder fix already, and if i buy the powerprom on top of that i get the kick from that and the shudder fix too right? just trying to clear this up so i dont order the wrong thing

hey, I've got an 83 944 with the following DME: 944.618.111.01
(0 261 200 015)... I'll need the adapter board *and* the powerprom chip, correct? or am I on the wrong track here?

hmm.. basically, what would I need to chip the car?

FR Wilk.. What is the reason for discontinuing the adaptor board? What happens down the road if somebodies board cracks or something? I remember faintly making circuit boards in high school. Is this the process you do?

My 84 944 has functioned flawlessly for over 2 years with the power prom.....the shudder is gone and I have a higher red line and smoother running engine.....
