Ride Height Adjust

The passenger side ride height on my 93 968 Coupe is low. I have noticed a couple of posts in the past state that there are two ways to correct the problem. Re-Indexing the torsion bars (no fun) and adjusting the eccentric bolt on the trailing arm (944). Is this the same process as on a 968? Is this a trial and error process until the car sit correct. I have had it "Off Road" in the past so there is the possibility that I bent something.

You just need some Really Big Wrenches to adjust the eccentric, which should be all you need to even it out, at least if nothing's bent. You'll need a 24mm (for the lock bolt), a 36mm (for the eccentric), and another 24mm wrench or a 24mm socket for the nuts.

If something does happen to be bent - you should replace it. But while I've had a few steel trailing arms bent for me (courtesy of attacking cars and walls) - that's the weak link in the system, by design - I wouldn't expect the aluminum ones to do anything other than break. Check for fractures. Finally, if you were to end up having to replace a trailing arm, you wouldn't need to reindex the torsion bar still. You should be able to bring it back in line with the eccentric. It would also need an alignment.

But most likely you just need to adjust the eccentric. However that can affect your alignment (both toe and camber), and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the alignment checked anyway, if you've been offroading - that can sometimes throw it off (don't ask me how I know!)...

Thanks for the info. With that in mind I will take it to a VW aligment tech. He should be able to set the ride height and align at the same time. The nearest P-Car Tech is over 100 miles away so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
