Please help me install Iceshark's kit.

I was fortunate to be able to pick up a used set of Iceshark's light cannons kit. (Thanks Alex) My question is:

Those that have early cars how do you hook up the supplemental postive cable to the fuse box. Did you some how use the existing grommet through the firewall or did you make a new hole with a new grommet?

When you finally get it through the firewall where exactly do you tie it into the fuse box?

Thanks

I've figured out the hole for the cable, but not the connection to the fusebox.

Am I the only early car that's tried to install the supplementary positive cable from Icesharks kit?

I installed the light cannon setup from Dan, but not the supplementary positive cable hookup. I didn't see the need in my case, since I had already completely cleaned all terminals, hookups, and checked all the feed and ground cables on my fuse box and rest of car. Besides the fact the kit comes with a new adjustable voltage regulator for the altenator, which makes a huge difference also.

However, if look at the back of your fuse box, and take close notice of where the current, red battery supply feeds attach to the back of fuse block, they should all go into spade fittings in the "H" block area. IIRC, this is all battery feed, and it also jumpers over to the aux. fuse box, for its battery supply. I would "assume" that all one would have to do, is just attach to any one of the open spade fittings available in the "H" block area. I know that all these spade fittings are connected together (according to a meter check, with everything unhooked from the block).

Just clean up and grease up all connectors along the way. That alone, will make a huge difference.

Thank you very much. So I would have to alter Dan's cable with a spade fitting then if I wanted to use it.

So you figure there is an open spot there in the "H" block? This photo gives me a "birds eye" view as I haven't pulled anything apart yet.

Thanks again.

edit: This is what I see.

Its been several months since I've been back behind one of these fuse blocks while in the car, but your arrow seems to be the right spot for where these connections should be made. I also don't know what Dan's positive cable looks like, or what he set it up for on the end of it. (gotta a pic of it?). However, from what I've seen so far with Dan's kits, and such, it probably has the correct terminal setup on it already. He was that anal with his kits......plug and play, so to speak.

With some effort, you can get the box pulled out of the bracket it sits into, to gain a little more access to things on the back of it by first taking the screws out the aux. fuse block and letting that hang, but just watch for chafing the wires, and make sure all connectors are tight when re-installed. Lots of wires stuffed in a small area.

By the way, the black with green stripe wire coming out of the black plug looks kinda chafed and heat stressed in your pic (maybe its just dirty). Check out that wire run real good, and look for other possible problem spots as your doing all this. Headlight switches in these cars are a good source of lots of fried wiring clear back to and thru this fuse block. Replace that switch, if you have any doubt about its integrity. I'd consider doing it anyway because of the age alone. Avoiding the possible wiring damage from a failed switch alone is worth the cost of a brand new switch......NOT a used one. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure theres at least one open spade connector on the back of the block. Theres seven spades total, 5 large ones, and two small ones. I'm guessing you'll be tapping into one of the large ones.

Thanks, I'll look into the wires. As for the connector it just a loop connector, the standard one you would put a bolt through. I bought this kit used and it was from a late car.

Hey Don...I was searching for you the other day........I can't find anyone referring to Ice's kit to the early cars...... So it looks like you will have to modify.

It definitely looks like a spade will work from the diagrams posted....

Yeah, search has been my friend lately.

I think I'm going to hold off on the supplemental cable and see how things work. I like the idea of things allot brighter, we'll see.

I've got the headlights with cable in, I'm working on the grounds right now (friggin bellhousing bolt!) and next is the positive cables. Can't wait to see the cannons work.

Hows your project going?
