Question new bad coil?

no spark condition after car sat for few months while i changed belts, broken bolts etc. installed new rotor and cap but would not start. have fuel but no spark from coil. took coil out and checked resistance. primary 0.7 ohms but infinite for secondary. ordered new coil. have 12 volts at both poles but again no spark from coil. removed coil have 0.6 ohms for primary but infinite again for secondary. i wish i checked it before i installed the second coil but i thought it would be fine, any suggestions?

is it poss to fry coils?

Do you have an ignition control module? I know the 16 valves do.
If so, try to source one from a wrecker- the same can be found on certain Volvo and Saab models.
