Searching for the past.
Well, driving home from school today I get a call by a man I have never met. The previous owner of my car, now living in the Atlanta area as an auto broker, searched for my VIN in the internet bringing up a web page on it. He wanted to know "how it was doing", and if it was for sale.
I found out I am the second owner, him and his 'big brother' mentor owned it in Dallas, Canada and in Atlanta. Apparently the car has lots of custom work done to it. It had a custom rear light plate that said "Turbo" between the tail lights (stolen off his car). It also had electroplated wheels. The computer (an 88) had been reprogrammed aside from chips - how exactly I don't know. The thing that was most striking was that the car has some sort of un-patented "jet technology" in the turbo. The story is the owner, had a man work on the car and he installed an experimental turbo. One time after the car broke down the owner became frustrated and sold it (regrettably) for not much money. After the sale the engineer asked "Well, you did take off my parts before you sold it, right?" The owner had forgot to. The engineer was apparently so upset he never spoke to the owner again. This ad-don allegedly gave the car an extra 40hp. I’ve had the car apart, and I’ve looked at the turbo. While I can confirm that the computer is an 88, and it was chipped in 1991, the turbo did not look any different; it still was a k26 housing. All I can imagine was that there was a different turbine wheel put in. To be honest, I do believe the guy. It may sound hokey - but all his other information matches up 100 percent. Now I’m curious, he said the name of the garage - I would like to find out more info on the motor. It was either "Daws, Dos, Das, Dawes Porsche Racing". If anyone has ever heard of them please let me know. They could be in the Atlanta or Dallas area.
