Will an exterior door handle from a later car with power locks fit my 83?

It should fit and work in the door, however the lock cylinders are different and i do not think you can swap lock cylinders between late and early cars. You can just have it rekeyed by a local lock smith for under $20.

The lock cylinder problem i came across when trying to get a early '85 lock cylinder into a 968 style handle.

i could be mistaken, but i think the inner workings (between the exterior handle and door latch) are different....
