LoL. Yeah I was guessing bearings maybe... they are OLDER then I am most likely... -.- Hate to think of it that way. It comes and goes - it was making alot of noise the other day - today its quiet. I guess my cars own personality its taking place... depends on what day it is - or tempature of that day / moisture... *Shrug* Clutch and transmission are sound. Gotta be gentle while its warming up on cold mornings other then that its good to go.

Either way I'm still looking around - I want a reliable low 13 second 944, not asking for the world - but I hate when someone tries to line up with me on a straight - I don't even try... I know what will happen. I feel like I'm crappin' on the Porsche name if someone whoops me bad... heh.

hey I don't know if I'm late on this or not (hav'nt been around here awhile) I was just pricing some head gaskets.

I'll just give you some perspective about my experience regarding supercharging the 944 and your engine dilema.

First regarding the engine: if you can find a low miliege used enging for a resonable price I would go that route. Rebuilding is going to cost a bit and getting a rebuilt eng you've already seen how $$ that is. These engines last a long time if propery taken care of.

Now for the supercharger: I did my own setup using the eaton m90 and I was not as impressed as I thought I would be. I am currently (or was before the blown head gasket) running 10psi and it was a little better than stock but definately did not produce the low end boost I thought it would. It was tuned pretty good ie; egts and a/f ratios looked good. I then went to the smaller pulley and found my weak link (head gasket at about 12psi). Now looking at the engine apart it appears that the gasket was not in great shape anyway so I would recomend to change that before even putting the engine in the car along with the belt and pump.

I was able to put some real(7800) miles on this setup before trying to boost it up some more so the engines can handle some boost but I would certainly get into changing some of these items first and you should be good for a long time. The car is a bit more fun than stock but definately nowhere near where my turbo car experiences were so I went for more boost BOOM!! ha

I hope this helps

To summerrize
get low mileage used eng
replace t-belt and pump
replace head gasket and studs

should be good for long time at 8 psi

if you look back at some of my old posts you'll find some pics of my setup btw I did it w/o having to remove the AC the blower is where the air box used to be.
Long winded I'm sorry but hav'nt been here a while and I was bored
