starts and dies

I recently purchased 2 924 porches 1 1979 other is a 77 924. I'm having a problem with the 79 it seems to start and run and die (30 sec to 1 min long ) when it starts it runs strong and then the gas peddle turns to mush and die sometimes it starts right up other times it won't . I purchased with full reciepts from 79 I got a dentist went out and bought him a new porche . also have between the 2 cars have over $10,000 worth of reciepts new head and motors and something was mentioned about a custom geared rearend . How could I tell if the cars are "s" ? One has a 150 mph speedometer the other is 165 speedometer is one better, in suspension set ups or is there a real difference?Well thank you for any advice . I have so many ?'s P.S these vehicles were pulled out of a backyard in old property missing a couple of parts on one particular car the other is complete might sell one.

first off, this is a period: .
and this is a comma: ,

lol with all kidding aside, both of your cars are just plain 924 models. you dont have an S car. the S was only around in the mid to late 80's (i believe.. someone correct me if i'm wrong).

you could have a problem with the fuel pressure in your 79. it sounds like you're losing pressure in the system and the car dies.. either that or a vacuum leak. but i dont suppose it's a vacuum leak because you say the gas pedal turns to mush... in a vacuum leak, if you pressed the gas, it'd keep the car alive... provided the leak was small enough. a bigger leak wouldn't let the engine run for a minute before dying..

I'd hook up a fuel pressure gauge on your fuel rail and test pressure there...

Early 924's are prime candidates for a small block V-8. Possibly the best thing one could ever do for the car.
