Name that part...
I have a 1984 944. Just in front of the battery box, is a funky cylindrical lime green thing. Anyone know what it is and what it does?? The manual doesn't say anything about it....
Just wondering if anyone knew! :) |
vacuum canister!
:) and no, i have no idea what it does, i know if you pull the vac line off it, it will make a neat hissing sound. look at what you guys taught me! 300 posts ago i didnt know what a CV boot kit was :) |
It holds extra vacuum so that certain things that are vacuum actuated or need vacuum to operate will do so when your engine isn't pulling down vacuum as hard.
|
As Kevin said it holds a reserve of vacuum, mainly needed when you turn the a/c on (which will effectively drop your vacuum from somewhere around 20-22 in/hg to probably 11-13 in/hg).
|
So, If my a/c doesn't work, that canister isn't needed!??!
Or, might there be something else it's used for!?:D |
