alternate alternator
Is there any different alternators that would work on a 951? im looking for one thats smaller and lighter

These cars are pretty twitchy about voltage.
My dash gauges ran on the low side until I got my alternator rebuilt (about $70). You can probably get the car to run on a smaller alternator, but you will also probably be chasing down strange electrical issues for the remainder of time you own the car. The other issue is will any other alternators actually fit? If you have AC, you probably won't find anything other than the stock alternator that will work. If you don't have AC, you might be able to find something.

Just my 2cents....but why would you want to go through so much trouble to save 5 pounds off a 2500 pound car?

My reasoning is the factory 951 alternator is big and without deleting the ac leaves very little room to get the intake pipe on with any turbo larger than stock.
