I'm a DADDY!!!!!!!!!!...which means car seat talk

Well...my boys can swim and new proud pappa of a lil baby boy named Daniel Matthew Guzman born at 3:51am on 7-15-07. I've contemplated getting rid of the 951 but I would love hand down this fabulous machinery to him. So rather that getting rid of lets make it practical. Who is running baby car seats here without problems. I have to put in the rear so lets hear from you brave souls who have figured out a way on not getting rid of your baby in luei of another baby. If not I'm thinking of trading her for a BMW maybe 740 series not sure which model but ala "Kramer" interesting trade offers accepted.

There are plenty of Porsche baby seats on ebay - found them when looking for regular seats. They are generally fastened to the seatbelt anchors hidden (if yours doesn't currently have rear belts) under the rear seats. There's an anchor either side of the hump (in the middle) and one under the carpeting roughly underneath the rear speaker. The foam padding underneath usually has holes pre-cut so you can generally get an idea of the location by prodding with a thumb.

It's no big deal to lift the rear lower seat. It's just glued on the chassis base and clipped at the top underneath the upper backrest. You can see the clips if you lift the carpeting under the rear hatch. Whenever I've renewed the rear seat base I've just used carpet spray adhesive to glue it back down again.

The upper part of the seat most likely utilizes the upper rear seat belt mount - located on the rear quarter panel trim and generally blanked off with a plastic screw plug.

Those clips at the back of the rear seat are no good - they're for the luggage net and are made of plastic.

A morning's work to do the whole job I reckon.

first off congratulations.

I have had a seat in the back of my car. It was forward facing and It was only used once my son was able to sit in a forward facing seat. I dont know how you would put in a rear facing seat or one of those carriers due to the small distance between the back and front seats. If you dont have airbag you could put the baby seat in the front but its generally frowned upon.

For my forward facing seat my first challenge was the width of the seat as it seems that all child seats are now made to only fit minivans and excursions the second issue was the curved back of the seat. I carved the back of the baby seat to the contour of the 944's seat. I didnt have to remove much material so I dont see how the structural integrity of the seat would have been affected. I unbolted the seat belt as there was no way to tightly hold the seat. In their place I installed anchors that are normally used for the top tie down strap. I then used the "latch" system that came with the seat to tighten the seat down. I tied the top tether strap to a rear hook in the very back of the hatch. I also ran a heavy ratcheting strap thought the middle of the baby seat, between the 944 rear seat top and bottom and to the rear hooks. Once all tightened down the seat was impossible to move and was much much more tightly secured that my other car with the proper baby seat attachment points. I never had an issue with my seat but I cant say for certain that its "safe" or "legal"

Congrats to you and your girlfriend. Has it trully sunken in yet? I remember it taking a bit for it to sink in for me. Remember Daniel has horse rides available out at my place

For a rear facing car seat get something which is very small from front to back and has a bottom whiich fits in the seat.

In Wisconsin the display seats at the store need to be available to be tried out in your car before purchase. Go to Target or something and talk to the manager and explain your dilema and ask if you can test fit the display seats.

Congrats buddy.

VM was just set up last night. We had issues with our phone provider messing up "options" on our phone line.

I have a 10month old, he's still in the rear facing child seat. I put his seat in the front and he does fine. He likes to go with the sun roof off so he can see the sky. We put it in the back once, but that was miserable for all. I'm sure there are some out there that would work, me, I'm waiting till he can fit in a front facing car seat. I'd spend too much time trying to find the proper car seat in my small town area. Congrats and good luck.
