Cant stop the heat!

86 944- heat pouring out of the vents. blower motor is off & temp is on cold. feels like it could be coming from the engine compartment. Any ideas?

stuck vacuum switch at the firewall, perhaps, keeping the interior heat on.

heater valve could be failing they fail on full heat. and your ducting could be messed up or routed wrong i dont know how that would be possable. or maybe the recirc flapper for the drivers side is not working and the heater valve failed hence heat on that one side.

The exact same thing happened to me... easy fix. There is a flap that mixes your cold air and hot air that is controlled by a motor and a push arm down by your right leg when sitting in the driver's seat. If the plastic clip that holds the control arm to the motor breaks (which is what happened to me) then you get constant heat ALL the time.

Here is the fix: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/hvac-01.htm

Ah yes, the infamous heater clip. Mine broke this past weekend. I drove home in 2 hours of traffic, 80 degrees...not bad but it was something like 80% humidity that day. I was DYING in the car, jeans on and a black shirt... horrible horrible drive home. I was going to divert course home to the emergency room to be treated for heat stroke. The only time i ever wished i hadnt taken my a/c out... . For the time being, you can ziptie the rod to whats left of the plastic clip...as you wait for your $2 part to be shipped to you via UPS for $7 .
