Interesting Vacuum Leak Procedure
I just bought the 944 Tech Tips book from Auto Atlanta. The book is so-so but has some interesting tips. I've used the 914 Tech Tips book for years for my 914 and it's a great book (much better than the 944 version).
Anyway, regarding vacuum leaks - the book suggests cutting an old fuel filter in half, then disconnecting the MAF from the intake boot and clamping in the 1/2 fuel filter (which is the same size as the vacuum boot) - then attach a bicycle pump to the other end and pumping up the pressure - then listen for hissing and using soapy water to spot any intake leaks. Sounds pretty ingenious to me....anyone ever try this? Vern |

Great idea, but I just threw out an old filter last week. I guess I could try PVC plumbing fittings to do the same thing - if I can get a compatible size that is...

I think I have an old filter, I'll have to give it a try.
Seems like a good tip.
