Fuel Ingection seal question?

Replaced my Fuel injector seals about 6 months ago due to the #1 leaking. Have not had any problems till the other day when it started leaking again. Took the rail off and inspected the seal area, only to find that the O-Ring was not damaged, It was leaking from the base into the cyl. My question I think that the guy that had it before might have had an issue and his mechanic possibly cleaned or polished the hole up. So does anyone know if there is an oversized seal that I can replace it with, or have any ideas? I know that it is the port, last time I changed everything I moved the injectors to another location and it was the same port not the injector. Any Help, Thanks!

Sounds like they messed up the intake manifold. I would just replace it. If you need one let me know I have a spare.

go check your local auto parts shop and browse through their rubber o-ring section.

I would go look for an oring at the auto parts store as well. The fiirst thing I would look at would be to make sure the fuel rail isn't bent upward on the end keeping it from sealing adequately. I can't remember off the top of my head how that all fits together but I think there is a bracket further back that holds it down and if the rail is bent, it may not be getting adequate pressure.

When you say the base are you refering to the top or the bottom of the injector? I had assumed you meant the bottom, which is intake manifold, top would be the fuel rail.

Either way if there is a gap with new o-rings I would replace the offending part instead of trying to make it work with a larger o-ring. Fuel isn't something you want to mess with on these cars, they are known to catch fire. I know from personal experience.

Lucky for me all that happened was some fuel got on the hot exhaust so it was more smoke damage then fire. but it's still scary as hell.

Fuel + hot exhaust = Buying another 944
Fuel + hot exhaust + being in the garage = new 944 & new house to put it in.

Replace the intake. They are cheap and easy to do.

Wouldn't the o-ring at the bottom be a vacuum leak as it just seals the injector into the manifold? Are we leaking fuel?

Exactly. That's why I suggested checking the fuel rail to make sure it's straight. I wouldn't replace anything until I could find the source of the leak. Probably not at the intake/injector seal.

Bottom line is this...don't drive the car until you are CERTAIN this is fixed. This is dangerous.

Yah, the base of the injector where it goes intot the intake manifold. Started it up today let it run for a while and there was no fuel leaking. Not sure if there was a piece of something on the O-Ring to begin with or what. I am pretty sure I got it fixed, but won't know till I drive it to work tomorrow. I will doulble check the straightnes of the rail before I go further. I bought an extra o-ring this weekend, just incase that might be the problem.

Been thinking about your problem...if nothing else checks out and it's for sure leaking at the bottom, then it could be you have a bad intake valve. I have never heard of that on the board before but it's possible. If the valve were leaking compression, it could be blowing compression back in the intake and out through the injector port...but I would think you would see other signs with that like compression coming back out the AFM. Run a compression test to determine if that is the problem. Only takes a few minutes and it's easy to do.
