Shock pkgs for a 968 DE/weekender

The rear shocks in my new-to-me 968 are blown, and the fronts are over 10 years old and over 50k miles. I realize as I type this that I should have checked to see what they are, but ... It's at the shop now for a couple front-end seals, belts, etc.

The car's all stock from a review of the service records, and was not built with M030. I'm wondering what packages folks might recommend for a car that I hope to use for tours/rallies, weekend trips, and as many DE days as I can fit in my schedule.

First thing that comes to mind are Koni Sports at all four corners, and I see packages from outfits like Ground Control (Konis and all the trimmings: http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php?II=696) or the SPEC 3 package at Paragon (http://www.*****************.com/product_p/944spec-3.htm). The SPEC package seems particularly interesting since it brings up the sway and torsion bars to suit the improved shocks. In fact part of that comes from yesterday's thread "Question on Koni Sport's."

Suggestions welcome -- thanks in advance.

i just finished working out the prototype for a rear bolt-in setup - coilover rear - no need to mess with the torsion bars, unless you want to lower it beyond the limits of the eccentrics - does not raise the car - dual adjustable hydraulic shock - none of the nasty preload of gas shocks like the koni

there is also a very nice dual adjustable hydraulic strut - i just installed it and took it for its first test drive yesterday - VERY NICE - i had the yellow konis - swapped for these

i will actually be driving through berkeley on the 9th, en route to a gathering of 968 guys in vacaville - come join us - you'll be able to see a couple of cars with the rear setup, and a few with konis - drop me a note

I had checked the RS Barn site and noted the LEDA package ($2200). I imagine they're a step up from the Koni Sports, and that your new hydraulic package would be better still - and priced accordingly, as it should be.

I don't have a budget per se, but that SPEC 3 kit ($1700) is very appealing as a balanced package that I think would be several steps up from stock. I'm not upgrading because I think I've reached the limits of the car, just figured I know I'll have it on the track a bunch so why not see what I could do as a modest improvement.

Might be good to get first-hand feedback at the Galva gathering on the 9th if I'm not snowboarding, but the car's in the shop now... Can't wait very long to decide what I'm doing.

Aren't all the best decisions made in a hurry?
