overheated
Tonight i was working on my car, and letting her run for a little bit. All of a sudden i see some smoke coming from the hood. I quickly turn the car off, put the key in Pos. 2, and run the heater to cool her down faster. Later I noticed, that when the car is running, the fans don't work unless the heater/AC is on. AC/heater are the same in my car, both hot as hel. I'M thinking it is the relay, but haven't had much time to look into it. Any thoughts?

when its hot carfully feel the radiator hoses, if they arent HOT, then possible stuck closed thermostat. BUT FIRST: on the radiator fan switch touch together or jump the 2 wires together with the car running if the fan does come on the you should replace the switch. Be carefull when troubleshooting, you dont want to go past 3/4 on the temp, HG's dont like that.

+1 on what Earl said. Test the switch first. And dont let it over heat. Much better to have a $40 fix instead of a $1200 head gasket job.
