not sure, but i think the duration and lift on the NA cam is higher and longer, so worse. i could easily be wrong, however.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that, too. The turbo people sometimes use NA cams for that reason.

Yes, an n/a cam is an upgrade to a 951 actually (pretty sure just the early n/a cams).

Why just the early cams? Were they more aggressive, or were the bearing sizes or something like that just different?

Early and turbo cams are the same. A late NA cam is a turbo upgrade.

Since the original poster has an early 944, the turbo cam is the same part number.

I don't follow, since the early NA cam is the same as the turbo.

Unless you're saying a late NA cam is an upgrade for an early, in which case that makes sense.

Yeah, that's it. Late NA cam in early NA car. George B set me up with this a long time ago and it did make a difference.

The late NA cam is an upgrade for either an early NA or any turbo, since the early NA cars and the turbos use the same slightly less agressive cam.

I have another queston but am kinda lazy to start another thread.

what are the lifters? cam followers or what? also if you have a lifter that collapsed do you just have to replace the lifter or is their anything else that goes on it?

the lifters, in our case, are the things that contact the cam and compress the valve springs. if you have a collapsed lifter, you replace the lifter. there are no cam followers (tappets) as such, just the lifters.
