is A/C compressor rebuildable?

My A/C system is leaking from the compressor seals, i hear this is a common failure on the 944.
Is the A/C compressor rebuildable & if so, where can you get the kit?
I see the A/C O-ring kit from Pelican, but it does not indicate what it repairs or if it's generic or what.

I have a compressor out of my 89 S2 which was working when removed (the car is a track only car). Instead me throwing it out, you may want to exchange it for yours or use it for parts. Pay for the shipping and my time to send it and it's yours.

Mine leaked at the front, even after replacing the seals 2x. The crank or main shaft of the pump developed a groove in the front where the seal was. AC specialists informed me that it is possible to grind it down, plate it and then machine it down to the correct size - but they warned that it is not worth the effort - most pumps leak again. I fitted a different pump, fabricated a new bracket and adapted the hoses to fit the new pump.

I can have it rebuilt where I am working, they did mine a few years back and so far so good. I've never looked for the front seal and clutch kit, but they are bound to be out there.

I had a leaky front seal about 2 years ago.

Rebuild instructions:
http://members.rennlist.com/elsies911pal/NippondensoRebuild.htm
and
http://www.thesysadmin.co.uk/rover/htmlman/acpump.html

parts can be obtained from:
http://www.acsource.com/index.asp
the compressor should be the 10P15C, gaskets set are $10(Gasket Set (KT-10PMGN)) and front seal $15 (Shaft Seal (SK-740N))

Don't know if this will help, but...I had my S2 AC compressor rebuild to take r134 and at the time my mechanic said the compressor is the same one used on the MB 190 sedans. I suspect he got the seals for that compressor because it may have been stocked parts Vs old P-car stock?
He rebuilt the thing for cheap and it's now been working real cold for about 2 years!

I'll try to call him tomorrow and find out where he got the kit. He just replaced the seals and all was well!
