Appology to all from Shikzachaser

I am requesting a user name change and if that is not possible I will be re-registering w/ a different user name as I may have inadvertantly insulted another member w/ my current user name. I was contacted via PM which I respect and would like to openly respond in case anyone else has been offended. The term Shikza is being used in my current name as I have (2) ferrets (Shikza and Mashugana). The little girl is always getting out and I am constantly chasing her around. The boy is well....Crazy. I am sorry if these names have offended anyone, it was not done to offend any race, religion, nationality, etc in any way.

Some people have barn cats, dogs, or whatever. I like Weezels in the garage.

Steve

I had to go look it up. Are people that really thin skinned? PC is waaaay out of hand. And.. you even spelled it different? You apologized (for their mis-interpretation) that should be cool. On the other hand.. is it that you are now uncomfortable with the names implication? That would be different.

BTW I've always like your rim pics with them. Must be interesting little buggers to have around?

Yes it is sad....Welcome to the United States of the Offended.

Cute ferrets, I hope they weren't offended by their name or you will have a PETA lawyer knocking on your door.

Heck, I always liked the name!

There were times in the past I thought about keeping some ferrets out at the shop, but I have seen what small furry critters can do to an imported electrical system

Who would be offended by that?

Per Wikipedia: Despite its etymology, the term shiksa is widely used and accepted in the United States, where it is often used in a humorous way.

Oy (no offense)!

So you chasing offspring of a intermarriage is offensive?

You can't please everybody. I think you should just stick with the name. After all the origin of the word was not derogatory when first introduced.

Keep your name and your ferrets..if the PM'er can't handle it, well life is like that. I still use my original name here not because I think I'm too tight but I'm just too lazy to change it to my Rennlist name. It refers to the custom made seats in my first 951 made for someone with Paris Hilton hips, I have a big guy ass and changed the seats 5 years ago.

I'd say if the name hasn't come under any fire until just now, don't worry about it. If it was really an issue, I'd think the mods would have addressed it way back when you joined. Probably everyone on here has something in their name that would offend someone somehow... I mean, imagine if a a devout Corvette hater saw my name... LoL!

On a lighter note, awesome weasels! My sis has a ferret of her own that's still kickin' after nearly 9 years - that thing is a riot! Crazy little critters.

Hey it's no big deal, I just don't want to piss anybody off that's all, and I certainly don't wish to seem anti-semetic. We have a very mixed family w/ my sister-in-law being Jewish (both nephews bar-mitzavahed) her sister is married to a Chinese Doctor, and my wife is German and Chinese (a very weird mix). What's even worse is that the boy I had before Mashugana was named Kishka by my sister-in-law because he looked like a fat little sausage when we got him. Unfortunately he died of pancreatic tumors at 5 years. It is pretty common for the breed unfortunately. For what it's worth the girl prior to Shikza was named Gidgit and the first boy going back about 15 years was Dweezel the weezel. They are extremely bright little guys that need a lot of attention. One of the big mistakes people make is treating them like hamsters or something. They definately need stimulus and interaction w/ people. They are however fragile and not good for little kids to have around. Not so much as a danger to the child but to the animal. Unfortunately they also stink. Descented, bathed every couple days, or whatever, they still stink.

Steve
