Death of a 944

Well here it is guys. I was driving home from work friday night on friday night, and I could feel the car hydroplaning, so I decided to get off on a smaller highway in the back country and take it slow, cause I was going to the same place it was. anyway. I got around about three corners going between 25 and 30. Around the last corner, I under steered, then brought the wheel back, and tried pumping my brakes. I hit a dirt wall and rode that, the the car flipped and skidded across the road about 10-15 feet. I passed out from hitting my head on the roof. when I woke up, all I could hear was the throttle down all the way, so I turned my keys, and unbuckeled my seatbelt. I smelled gas, bad, so I kicked out what was left of the window and rolled my way out. I grabbed my backpack and got away from the car.

I got towed to a wrecking shop in auburn where I got the rest of my stuff and where it remains for now. Im not feeling that good about such a dumb move either.

A car is a car, we drive them, we clean them, we love them, and we even crash them. It can always be replaced, but your life cannot. Now you get to look forward to finding a new baby!

Wow! Glad you are alright! Did you get any injuries or see a doctor or anything?

Was the car hydroplaning because of bald tires or because of rain occuring after a long dry spell?

Down here it rains almost every day so I have the hydroplaning thing down to a science

Any landing you can walk away from.....
As many others have said, you can replace a car, at least your still around to talk about it!

Holy crap, dude. That could have been much worse. Don't feel bad, it happens.
Sounds like you did everything you could and also didn't panic afterward.
I've never been upside down before, but I've been in a few wrecks. I usually hurt myself more in trying to make too hasty of an exit. I once tackled a lady that was going to run right into traffic after just a minor spinout accident. I guess it's human nature that we want to separate from the car asap, even more so in your case. Upside down and smelling gas, AAGGHH!
Did you have a few flashbacks? I always get the repeated replays in my head for the first night, I guess from the adreneline and the brain kind of de-fragging, but it goes away.

And I thought I had a bad weekend slipping on some wet tile and hurting my back! Amazing that you are OK and glad to see the roof held up. I'm sure it will get totaled by the insurance co., maybe you could buy it back and have it live on parting it to another car. At least the exhaust looks intact

Yikes! Kudos to you for walking away. It's not often these cars get their bottoms up. I've been off the road a couple of times and never worried about not staying right side up. Glad you're okay.

Cool, that you're ok, that must have been exciting. they used to call me crash, i,ve been all kinds of sideways and backwards, even over a cliff, but never upside down. You're right not to post how fast you wrer really going, you never know who reads these things, I can picture a state farm agent trolling all the different forums, haha. Anyway, glad you're good, and keep the shiny side up from now on!

Glad to see youre in one piece.

As they said its only an expensive piece of scrap metal, not your life.

I will admitt though to being upside down a couple times. The last time I stopped shiny side up, put it in 4x4 and drove back up hill to the road I left, drove it to the nearest town and called the insurance co. "cancel my claim"
