Wheel Bearings.....
Just a quick poll for others on here related to their front wheel bearings.
I put in new bearings about a year ago, at the same time that I upgraded to Turbo S spindles/brakes. I took the car in for an alignment at that time, and they indicated that one side had a slightly loose hub (3 degrees movement), which they tightened up and completed the alignment. Since then I have done 4 DE events now, plus some regular city/highway driving. Over the last couple of DE's I noticed that the front end was getting sloppy. When I took the wheels off and investigated, I found that both front wheels had wheel bearings/hubs that had loosened up appreciably. I know that I had tightened the locking nuts well when I replaced the bearings, plus one side was adjusted/retightened by a well-respected Porsche shop in the area, yet still loosened up. So my question is, is this typical of these cars? How often do you have to check your bearings, if you are tracking your car? (Sounds like "everytime" is the answer, but I have to ask) Thanks, Keith

The front bearings are tapered roller bearings. They will loosen as they wear. So long as they are properly greased you shouldn't need to adjust them more than once a year unless you do a lot of DE or racing events, in which case they should be checked every time.
Make sure yours are properly greased, and you are tightening them enough (until you can just move the washer with a screwdriver).

Thanks, Zero.
Bearings have plenty of grease, and I always use the screwdriver method to set them. Sounds like I just need to be more attentive to them, as I have been starting to do more track days this year. Cheers, Keith
