Central Florida 944 GTG, March 28th!

Hi everybody, we are having another "get-together"/cruise in the Orlando area on March 28th, 2009! EVERYONE is welcome to join us, as we will be cruising through some of Central Florida's most scenic, twistiest roads.

Schedule of events: 11:30am we will meet up on the top of the Wachovia parking garage (see address in the flyer). We will leave promptly at 12:30, so please try not to be late, or you will have to catch up! We will start out doing some highway group cruising, to get to the backroads. We will then make our loop around Lake Apopka, traveling through Taveres and Mt. Dora areas, with probably a stop in between for a photoshoot. At the end of our loop, we will eat at a barbeque restaurant in Apopka, and then head home!

This meet is dedicated to (but not limited to) all 928/924/944/968 variants. Again, anyone else is more than welcome to join. We will most likely have another camera car tagging along this time . If you have not seen the video from our last meet, you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooDj5QwI6w4

Our attendance expectancy for this meet is the largest yet! So don't miss out on your chance to chat with other local 928/924/944/968 owners and check out their cars!

If anyone has any questions you can contact me directly. Thanks, and we will see you March 28th!!!
-Elliott

Bump to the top!

So far the "I'm in!" list is growing! I know this thread is a ghost town but people have been PMing me daily and I'm getting a lot of responses over on Rennlist.

Well first off, welcome to Pelican!
Where around town are you from? I know a lot of VW guys in the area, and I used to work at a Porsche/VW shop in Longwood. So who knows I might have even met you in the past or something.... never know!
These types of 944 meets are actually quite rare, so if you get the chance to come to this one, do it! How long have you had your 951 for? I just bought a 951 myself, in November. If you need any parts or help working on the car, or just want to meet up some time and BS I'm always down for whatever!

pa.... as in Pennsylvania?? AS IN... ANOTHER STATE? Hot-damn its amazing how these meets have grown since the first. I should contact a Magazine and get some coverage! How sweet would that be!

But really... pa? Maybe I am misunderstood... for all I know it could be one of the sub-divisions in my own neighborhood!

Wow you guys are troopers!! I don't even know if my 944 would last for that long of a drive! Crazyness. Well if you do decide to come down, let me know if I can help out with anything.

I might have to create some kind of award for the "furthest distance traveled"!

I will see if I can get the time off. And make the drive down from TN. I need to come down to Orlando and see my sister anyway.
I need to do my first East coast GTG.
Went to many wile living in SoCal. I miss being around other nuts, er... I mean enthusiasts, like myself.

Z,
did you ever get the DME and/or AFM issue worked out? We need to get that car up and running so you can 'be a part of us!' I just picked up a 1979 924 today, and I'm not sure whether it uses the same DME or not, but you are welcome to try it out on your car if you'd like. Give me a call back some time man. I just became one of the however many hundreds of thousands of Americans who lost their job so far this year, so now I have all the free time in the world!!!!!!

DME is in the Mail. I hope that's the cause of my headaches, well that and needing new rings. I may know another camera person. I asked her if she can tag along. If she's not shooting a wedding we may have another awsome pro-photographer snapping pics of the cars.

That would be awesome man! If she needs any additional info about the meet for whatever reason just tell her to send me an email.
Glad to hear you found a DME. Let me know if it works out, or if you need any other parts, my white 86 is going to get scrapped soon!

My car has been running good... (knock on wood) I will try and get to it. It was so much fun last time! I've got a Titan meet this weekend so not much time to get the car ready.
Oh and I replaced the body panel so I've ditched the bra!

Elliott, I took my car into work this morning to get my tires balanced at lunch and it appears I might not be able to go. My car is spitting oil from the camshaft assembly gasket... again. It was smoking like a whore this morning. This is not good. I even had the wife excited to go on the run.
