As for only 1 GTR being made I call BS - I know of a GTR for sale that if I wasn't so deep into my own GTR reproduction I would buy it.

In that picture, one of those cars is based off a 924 and the other is based off a 944. They are not hte same as the Bruce Jenner/Elliot Forbes-Robinson car that Holbert made. They are more accurately decribed as GTP cars.

I have a book on the history of Porsche motorsport which talks about those two cars specifically. The 944 based one has a one-off 16 valve head which debuted racing before the 944S even came out; it was based on the head from the Indycar v8 porsche developed in the early 80's that never happened.
The 39 car is the 944 and the 36 car is a 924.

The Al Holbert racing GTR's were single overhead cam. The one pictured along side it's 924 GTP twin is a 16v car and very, very special.

I'm still waiting for someone to mold in some fiberglass GTP front clip/ rear fenders into a street car. The problem is not just finding the fiberglass GTP front end (which is different than the GT racing IMSA one piece front) but finding wheels wide enough front and rear (12" in front and 14" in rear I believe.) That plus the fact that new front spindles would be required due to the huge scrub radius that would be incurred with running wheels that wide (6 inches of scrub would kill your steering rack pretty quick).

I'm building one right now - they're grafting a turbo nose on a 924GTP front end and shaped to fit and look like the 944 GTR front end.

Concerning the wheels and hubs, I'm going to use 935 front hubs and some centerlock magnesium wheel centers and BBS halves like I did for my 935 project.

I'll post pics of the body progress over the next few months if people are interested as they're putting the bodywork on her starting next week (just came back from the blast shop) The wheels on her now are only 9" wide front and 13" wide rears.

I have one of these brochures from Kurrus motorworks located in New York in the early 80's they were a Porsche tuner that specialized in high end performance minded packages. The 944 GTL was one of them, they used Callaway turbo parts and special fabricated pieces for dash and engine modifications, the headlights were factory 924 GTS ones at the time they were cheap and available, the car might have had fuch's and LSD but looks like the wheels were switched for those ugly crazy '80 style rims! Recaro's were standard as well as KONI shocks?

Check out this link and get the details of what this Kurrus place did, buy the brochure there everywhere onlne! Kind of a poorboys RUF that never made it out of the eighties custom import car boom?

What do you think they were doing with a "double power foglight" in the left foglight position and a Hella Halogen in the right fog light position?

I thought that little symbol on the boost guage looked like the symbol on my calloway microfueler, and they mention a MF in the text. Cool.

I think there were 7 built.

The two that I know of, one is being worked on by michaelmount (long thread on carpokes about the engine work hes doing) and the other (#7) is on facebook, still alive and well.
