Late cam in early engine?

I was just thinking about swapping an 85.5+ cam into my 84 NA and was looking for some comments from ppl who have a bit of camshaft knowledge - is it worth any extra hp (I know the later model cam has more duration and lift on the exhaust side)?

Also I'm presuming it will be fairly straight forward, i.e. that early and late cams have the same physical size and dimensions it's just the lobe shape that's different.

Any comments / suggestions???

Cheers

I've done this. It works well and does seem to improve the car's performance. However, I'm no cam expert.
