Fuchs on 87
My son is looking at buying another 944, the guy says its an 87 but it has 15" Fuchs wheels in the picture. He asked the guy if he's sure it's an 87, and he said yes, and that he used some kind of adapters to make the Fuchs fit. He said if he puts those wheels on his other 87 without "adapters", they do rub.
??? I'm confused, early offset wheel on any late car would make them rub the fenders, right? Would they mount and look OK, but have clearance problems driving? No way to adapt them to be skinnier, right?

87 is early and late offset and i believe the laters ones are late offset similar to the 85 / 85+ kind of split in the middle of the production.

'87 on up is late offset. Something doesn't add up in what the seller is telling you.

A buddy of mine had fuqs on his '87 944. I thought that they cheabged the offset in the middle of prodution of 1987, but not sure. Someone else mentioned it above also. Have him take pictures (or have him look and tell) of the option sticker- I think they have the date finished on there, or no?

it was just an example. the sticker on the inside of my gas cap said the car's tires should be 16", but my rims were 15" rims. that was my first clue that something was amiss with my wheel set-up at the time.

Looks like 15" Fuchs, so early offset, not an '87.

With skinny tires, you can fit 15x7 early offset rims on a late offset car, but the whole adaptor thing doesn't make sense.
I have 15x7 Cookies on my '88 S with 195 snow tires - fits great & no rubbing. Larger tires would rub, though.
