ISV / Idle Control Valve install direction?

Of all the electrical and vacuum testing procedures I've seen posted here, I can't seem to locate anything which tells someone which direction the arrow whould be pointing on the valve when installed int he bracket.

My valve seems to have been mounted in it's bracket rotated 180deg, with the arrow pointing in a direction different than some shown in photos here of the electrical testing procedure.

Should the ISV be mounted in the bracket with the arrow essentially pointing toward the front passenger tire?

Forgot to mention, I did download and refernce the facotry manual - closest thing I could find is the diagram on page 20-7. But it also does not illustrate in this vacuum diagram which direction the valve is flowing.

The arrow points to the nipple that connects to the intake manifold.

Yeah, that's it. Sorry I forgot I had posted this inquiry in two different spots hoping to get a reply.

I can say that after installing it pointing to the "S" hose and the (cleaned) intake plenum, replaced the fuel injectors (3 tested bad with leaks and cracked pintle caps), also replaced the AOS and oil filler cap o-rings... this baby purrs now!

Thanks guys for all the info, and thanks to Pelican for maintaining the board and providing all the parts - except the injectors. That was covered in another thread!

what is the intake plenum, AOS?

Intake Plenum = Intake Manifold.
AOS = Air Oil Separator.

ok..
so the early 944 does not have an IDLE VAlve instead it has an Electric Air Valve...
so what is the difference? the EAV has two contacts and an arrow that points....

Not 100% positive, but I think I'm correct in saying:
Early valve is open/close.
Late valve is modulating.

but it is the same animal, right?
the arrow points towards the firewall (back of engine) or the intake
(front of engine)?

The arrow points to the nipple on the Idle Control Valve where the hose connects. The other end of that hose connects to the big nipple under the Intake Manifold near the Air/Oil Separator.
