This is all very helpful. Before I tear in to it, I plan to do a leak-down test. If the #1 plug is fouling up with oil and the leak-down test results are good, then is it for sure the valve stem seal? Is the #1 cylinder the usual place for the first signs of valve stem seal problems? The other plugs seem nice and tan in color. Approximate oil consumption is 250-500 mi per qt.
