Unhappy Vents are possessed! And my radio sux ;_;

So, my a/c blows cold out the main two vents in the middle of the dash. The two outer vents seem to blow ambient air...but the feet are blowing scorching hot. What the heck? Anybody hear/know about something like that happening? lol. Help! I wanna cool my feet down. So Cal is too hot ;_;

And I always get air blowing out the vents even with the recirculate button on...?

And the sliding switch things between the temp control and fan speed knobs, which I assume control what vents open up, doesn't work properly. I don't have an orig. owner's manual so I could be wrong about their purpose, lol.

Oh and my radio antenna which is in the windshield gets no reception. I found a wire at the bottom passenger side of the glass that looks like it's supposed to plug into something but there's no connector there. I'm assuming thats why my radio sucks. Is it a special type of connector or can I find a little connector for it at like radio shack or something

Thanks guys. Couldn't find anything on the vents so if I overlooked something and double posted, I'm sorry *pouty face*

What year do you have? If it's a 85/2 or higher, then check this to make sure this isn't broken.

Not sure about the radio issue. I would think you could find something

If it's an early, then you probably need to check the hot water valve for operation and/or cable adjustment.

The wire coming out of the windshield on the passenger side is indeed the antenna lead. Many times this is left disconnected (or is damaged) when the windshield is replaced by a "budget" glass company. I don't know specifics about the connector but if that wire is disconnected you will definitely have poor reception.

As for the vent controls, here's a link to a 1988 Owner's Manual.

"socal is hot", you don't know what hot really is.

perhaps the recirc button circuit has a vac leak.

i have a friend that just completed the badwater marathon - - 135 miles starting in Death Valley, goes through Death Valley and ends at Mt. Whitney Portal.

This is a non-stop footrace. She did it in under 40 hours.

Crazy!

Another possibility for the poor radio reception is that the late cars with the antenna in the windshield used antenna amplifiers - which often get unhooked and forgotten about.

My 951 had the same problem - I hooked up the amp and presto-chango, the radio worked perfectly.

If I remember correctly, the wire to the amp was a small (say 16 or maybe 18 Ga) black wire in the vicinity of the antenna connector.

You hook it up to +12 VDC.

On mine, I hooked it up to a 12 VDV out from the deck. If you use some other source, be sure to fuse it (maybe 5 amps or something low).

Do of course, make sure you've got the correct wire before you give it the voltage. To test mine, I think I had the radio out but plugged in and playing - I brushed the wire quickly with a 12 VDC source and the reception was intantly good.

Then after confirmation, I wired it into the deck.

As for the vents, like the other guys said it might very well be a vacuum hose off somewhere on the vent system. All the vent doors are vacuum controlled. You'll just have to poke around down under your dash and see if you can find it.
