Hows the vent system work?

So, how does the vent system work (early 944)? I am trying to strip the car out, but want to still be able to use the vent system (minus the AC). I want it to be able to blow cool (outside) and hot air to the vents and windshield vents. I had always just thought the fan near the back of the engine bay blew air into the system and the heater core warmed it if wanted... I just removed the AC evaporator and the black plastic casing it is in. The car still runs fine, but there is no air flow...

This is what I took out: 944online.com Exploded View Porsche 944 Diagrams.

So do I need something that i removed to make it work and I'm just being dense?

Thanks.

I'm going to answer myself. What I removed was just AC and the other fan does run the vent. I had just forgotten to attach the ground line from the relay back on!

I'm having the exact same problem. I removed all the crap from under the passenger side dash. What ground did you have to re-attach. Do you have a pic? thanks!

There were two relays on top of the AC evaporator that wire back into the controls. The smaller of the two is needed to run the vent, but there is one ground for both. It was connected near the right side of the dash, close to the lower dash mounting screw. I can get a pic if you need more help, just let me know.

Banana944, ya I am... I'm going to make it a hybrid race car! It will be done over the winter and I'll post more info when I do more. I'm hoping to make it sporty and looking good.

So all that other junk beneath the dash on the passenger side can come out? Just leave the relays and ground them? I think I need to check and see if that's grounded. I know I left the relays in.
