Bearing noise from a 4 bolt setup

Hey guys I've replaced the rear wheel bearings and all the fixings, as well as the front wheel bearings. New disks and drums all round.

Yet I still hear a kind of grinding noise when I drive - seems to come from the rear. I was wondering: Is there any other bearing set besides the front and rear wheel bearings that I need to replace?

Are there any bearings that could be causing the noise between the rear wheel bearing and the gearbox that could be a likely suspect? Or is it possible that the noise I'm hearing is just the brake drums settling in?

I have PET and the manual but I'm wondering based on your experience if there's anything I've missed.

Possibly you have an issue specifically in the drum brakes themselves, such as incorrect reassembly. I have often had such problems, hate drums. This would be particularly noticeable at low speeds...

I presume you got the axle nuts properly torqued (about halfway between "piss tight" and "passed a bit of colon" tight)?

If so, I would start by raising the rear of the car, putting it on jackstands, then laying under the gearbox while turning the wheels by hand. if you hear something, perhaps a steth could narrow down the location?

Yeah thanks Slam, Vaughan, Rasta, Coca - yeah I double posted - I maybe had one too many coffee this morning.

The car goes like stink though - had a blast for a few minutes anyway.

Chuck said I might want to do some checks on the wheel play while jacked up. On the drum brake I'll check to make sure it's half way between, as said here.

I'm not sure about the reassembly but I can check on that too. I think I still have a Workshop Manual in digital form here, but I can't find my Haynes...

I have a stethescope too I can use while I'm down there. But I'm gonna find a way to do it without committing my head too much under the gearbox. Ha.
