Porsche Crest Motor swap?

I'm sure for most of you this will be an easy question.

Can someone please tell me what issues I may encounter if I try to swap an 83 motor into an 86 car. No turbo or anything fancy, just early motor into a late car. I know the fuse location and ecu are different but will a late wire harness and under the hood accessories mate up?

I have a 86 944 with no motor, ecu or exhaust but has tranny and power steering. I can get a 83 parts car with motor, ecu and exhaust for next to nothing. Will this work? Thanks.

It all should go together. There's no ISV on the early cars so you'll have an extra unused connector from your late harness. You may not have a power steering pump on the donor as it was optional on the 83s.

Goood luck.

Is it true the early/late temp sensors differ?

Yes, they are different. The early car has a 1 wire temperature sender under the intake manifold as opposed to a 2 wire setup. That changed in 85.5 along with a few other things.

The fuel line hookup might be different, you might need to transfer the fuel rail form the old engine like I had to
