Yes, for sure, cup holders when parked.
I have the sales brochure that explains the purpose of the 3 special models from 1988. 911, 924S, and 944.
I own a 924S Special Edition.
I have customers that own 2 silver cars and a black one here in San Diego. I just met a guy on the phone today who was about to sell his 7, 8 x 16 phonies in long beach. The ad said they were off his 88 944. I called and asked about the car. Turns out he had a Celebration Edition car and didn't know it. Silver. I think he's hanging onto the wheels now...
The term plaque is a mis translation for the large coin. There is no plaque that I know of. Each model had it's own coin.
.... Another cool 944/924S saved/rescued!...

Wouldn't it be more of a medal or medallion then a coin which implies legal tender?

Mr. Howell,
Yeah. I'd have to agree with you. Medallion is a better word choice.

Very, very optimistic on that price. I refused one at $80. Good luck to him.

After reading this, I checked my 88, which has cloth interior, but not plaid, and saw that it has the 757 Celebration Edition code. Has anyone seen the type of cloth used? (Sorry for using the Craigslist link, but my pictures wouldn't load.) Perhaps I should be asking more for it? Please, share your thoughts.

Nice car~! Your price is reasonable, there's a black one in Minneapolis Craigslist for 6000, you can look it up. Similar mileage, and proven provenance on the celebration edition.

About 8 years ago I bought a Celebration edition from a friend, and turned it into a 944 Spec car. It was Silver, had the Celebration option code, and the 16" wheels. These went on my street 944S at the time, and that car is still racing in the NASA Great Lakes region. I had no idea at the time that it was special, whoops... It did win a couple of National Championships, and went into the June picture of the 2008 Grassroots Motorsports calendar, so at least least it got it's 15 minutes of fame.

Here's the cloth in ours:

Sadly, as you can see, it was toast, so we replaced the seats with white leather. The door panels were the same cloth and we were able to keep those, though.

I just purchased a Celebration model in pretty rouge shape. Mechanically solid, but appearance wise, long way to go. Last four of the VIN 0178. The celebration models stopped at 180 according to the production run sheet. Ordering seat covers and fabric to get her back to spec. I'm sure it's been in at least 3 accidents, all minor but enough to show some crappy workmanship. It's going in for paint to restore its Satin Black finish in August. Ordered two replacement fenders last week to correct some of the bad bondo work. I'll post some pics. It is drivable but it ain't pretty by any stretch.

Congrats and Welcome Kev!
As a fellow '88 owner (non-Celebration), I know you'll appreciate the awesome extra 8bhp that only we few '87 & '88 owners enjoy.
We Happy Few..

If you're in Virginia, let us know who will do the Black Satin paint job?

Best Wishes,
Mikey in Richmond

Mikey,
Still on the hunt for a good painter. I'm in Hampton Roads. Just finished yesterday replacing the head and head gasket, cleaned the pistons, intake, throttle body, fixed an issue with the oil cooler (somebody installed two plastic washers incorrectly putting oil in my coolant), and cleaned the hell out of the engine. Also put on new front brakes (rear we did last week). Its running great. My oil pressure is a little high. I'll post pics.

That'd be nice. Don't know how many are left out there. I got off the phone with Porsche Jacksonville (formally Brumos). Because the car was rear-ended at some point (no frame damage-but the M757 sticker is missing) I wanted to verify the options, and it does indeed show up in the VIN registry as a 757 option code. Plus I'm within the VIN's on the production sheet if you look at the celebration site that someone put up on weebly. Long way to go. Paint first, interior second. Some idiot painted it grey-ish. Looks like a really bad back yard/buddy/maaco job. Good news is all the door jambs and engine bay hold the black. Carpet has been the hard part! Studio grey just isn't out there. I think I'm going to have to get white and dye it.

There was a celebration edition being parted out in Escondido, CA., recently. Trying to get a contact number for you.

I've just found a "barn find" literally. A 27K mile 1988 Celebration Edition in Satin Black with the cloth seats. Complete and original, but somewhat neglected. Just ordered the Cloth material from Germany and will be bringing the car back to it's former glory.......stay tuned.
