924s 1988 Cut out after bumpy down hill section
Hi all!
Don't normally drive for more than 30 mins in any one direction really but son wanted to turn up to party in it today....fair enough....It cut out after 1hr of driving in a particularly downhill bumpy road. I wasn't going more than 30 mph though. The last time this happened I seem to remember it was the DME relay that had lost a connection on the back of the domino relay holder. I coasted off a roundabout, parked up and looked at engine and then wiggled the DME relay and then it started up. I'm safely back home but will have a good look tomorrow. I suspect it is the DME relay again. Just a question on the DME relay........if it looses connection will the engine just shut off? Thanks, M

Since relays (and, for that matter, the connectors at the back of the fusebox) are held in place by friction, it is quite possible that a severe jolt has shaken something loose.
Yes, if the DME relay loses connection, you will lose power to the ECU and/or the fuel pump --> your engine will stop running.

Thanks...as it happens I have three spare ones....but not a solid state relay...maybe that's the answer...I'll have a good look tomorrow. I seem to remember the last time this happened three years ago one on the wires at the back of the DME relay had come loose....we shall see..........
