Where does your car idle at?

Just was wondering what did they idle when new and what does you car idle at? Mine idles at just below 1.2k with a late model DME and AFM, it use to idle at 950RPMs with the stock computer and AFM. I'll have to screw with the set screw probally.

mine used to idle at 950. i put in a custom aftermarket chip, it raised it to 1k. so i set it back down.

i set it to 950 when its warm, with lights on (light lower RPM by about 25 or so)

my manual says 900 +/- 50 i believe

1.2k would be brutal! i tought 1k was loud and annoying!

factory is 840 +/- 40 RPM. I'm running a Vitesse MAF/chips and idle in that range most of the time. Occasionally, the car will idle closer to 950ish when warm but I haven't been able to figure out what the situation is that causes that - it's rare.

Make sure that you jumper the DME test port to pull the ISV out of the loop before turning the screw - you shouldn't just crank the screw once your car is warm...you'll have problems then.

Mine idles at 1050 or so. I have it set artificially high because when cold, it idles far too low, ~500. I have to keep the throttle on for a minute or so until it warms. I've checked the ISV and it operates fine. However, it still idles too low and wants to stall out when the air is colder than 40F.

Mine is at about 1100 or so because thats the only way my car will idle. ISV is bad. Plus im sure I have a few other things going on under the hood. I have yet to fix this stuff

my cars idle in my driveway, at stop lights, and sometimes at curbsides - but seriously

my 6 spd 968 idles at 850 (the book says 840+/- 40)

my tip 968 idles at about 900 (the book says 880+/- 40)

a 944 in the US is supposed to be 900 +/- 50

a high idle can be a sign of a vacuum leak - those little hoses can come undone pretty easily

I turned my idle up to smooth out the idle and to keep the car from stalling. Along with the isv I might have a vac leak somewhere which is messing up my idle.

I did replace some of my vacumme lines while the car was down for a few months. I will have to do a look-over and see what hoses are loose, or if I am missing any. People say to spray something into the intake to check where a vac leak is. I forget what exactly it is, I wanna say starting fluid? They say be very carefull, so thats probally it. I dont like my car idiling at 1K or so.

1.2k cold/1k warm. I tried lowering it to 1k/850 but it hunts when it's cold and staggers when hot.

I must have a few vac leaks... that and the PO swapped the 84 engine out for an 88 and may have missed a few things. I'm finding them as I go lol.

Do NOT take my word for it, but I think it's Carbeurator Cleaner. Extremely flammable stuff though.

carb cleaner will work, and is what i use for this, but be careful not to get it on paint - the idle will stumble when you hit the leak

starter fluid will work, but is HIGHLY flammable - this is dangerous and is NOT recommended - the idle will race when you hit the leak
