1) If you just want to drive around have a lot of fun, and not take out a second mortgage
>73-74 914/4 2) If you want to go somewhere in style, comfort, and luxury... >996-but I'd never get one, they're ugly, overweight, plasticy (bumpers, Honda-ish door handles), share ugly Boxster interior but comfortable and faster/better handling than a 928. 3) If you want something fast, sleek, fun, and affordable: >73-74 914/4 4) If you want something fast, sleek, fun, and don't care as much about cost of maintenance... >87-89 911 Carrera 5) If you want something that everyone will envy, and you want something that turns everyone's heads... >74 911 Carrera RS I'm only 21, so I figure I'll try out a little of everything Porsche offers and then I'll get back to you in 50 years and give you an accurate rundown of my picks. For sentimental value purposes, my 83 944 will be my first and last Porsche.

thamlin - actually the 996s are relatively lightweight for newer cars with air bags and abs. The curb weight on a 6-sp is around 2900 lbs (about 50lbs more than an 86 951 and probably lighter than an 88-89 "S").
blackfoot - LMAO
