Sunroof goes down but not up

I have to put a wrench on the sunroof motor to crank the sunroof open. But i can push the button on the center console to close it. When you push to open it you can here the relay fire. But is it something with the switches?

Just to make sure: are you trying the sun roof in its proper way? I mean that opening up/closing down goes only with ignition on. However, when you want to take out/put back the roof, opening and closing goes only when the key is in, but ignition is off!

Otherwise the sun roof is very complex, it has three switches in the back plus one more in the roof itself. They all need to be aligned and well connected.

Please explain the problem more, maybe then I can help more as I fixed a few of these and they all are a real pain

Sounds like one of the limit switches (like the one for fully open) might be stuck in the engaged position.

Hey tomiki, I've been to Budapest (back in '77, when I was 16), as I have relatives there, and also in Berzence. I didn't know there was any Porsche drivers in Hungary. All I can remember is Trubants, and maybe some VW beetles, but that was quite a while ago. I guess things have changed since then.

I found the problem. I'm not sure exactly how they are wired. But i had to clean the contact points inside the relays for the sunroof.
