New 944 S2 Cab Owner!!

I just bought a 1991 Cab and it is the dark color blue with a blue top and blue interior. Does anyone know if this is a rare color combo. I have been searching for production listings on colors and options but can only come up with total # of vehicles sent to the US. Thanks for the help. Sam.

Thanks so much! the reason I ask about the rarity of this color combo is because I have a friend who wants to buy i9t from me but if it is rare I want to keep it for myself. The pics were taken with my phone so I will have to upload propper pics once i get the car cleaned and out on a nice day.

Specs are:
1991 944 S2 Cab
56k original miles
I'm the third owner
Triple blue
All original

I heard that there are books that tell the production figures on this car. One was called the "Red Book" and the other is the "Porsche Data Book" I've called my local book store but they can't have it for like a week. Does anyone have one of these books they can give me the info out of untill I can get one here? Thanks, Sam.

[QUOTE=bemrman;5562837]I heard that there are books that tell the production figures on this car.

For 1991 Porsche produce 1,702- 944S2 Cab that were distributed as follow __1,140 ROW (rest of the world) & 562 US. MODEL.So you have one of the 562 Cab send across the pond has they say.Still searching how rare is your color combo, lot's of triple black out there but triple blue seem to be a very elusive combo,in the meantime let's have some fun ,here one I came across while doing research a very well done 944S2 cab wide body Spyder

I have a friend who has one in Roland Heights, CA....triple blue same shade of blue as yours.

Here are the color codes for the 1991 944 blues, per Porsche Paint Manual WKD 482620.02, printed August 1991.

LY5D Azurite Blue
LM5A Maritime Blue
LM5N Cobalt Blue Metallic
38B Cobalt Blue
LM5P Dove Blue Metallic
LY5U Glacier Metallic
LM5M Turquoise Metallic
37U Cobalt Blue Metallic
37W Midnight Blue Pearl (waterbase paint)
39C Midnight Blue Pearl

All the non-metallic paints are single stage paint jobs, and the metallics are all 2 stage paint.
If you have the warranty/service manual, you can look in the front, and your options codes are listed there, if not, look in the spare tire well for the option code sticker.

I can only guess that the 2 Cobalt Blue Metalllics (LM5N & 37U) are because of a numbering change during the production year.

ernie..bet your is sapphire metallic (unless they changed the codes from 1991)

Enrique, the friend who has the one in Rowland Heights is Azurite Blue (triple blue)

bemrman, yours is also Azurite Blue...very nice color....to decode the rest of your options, there is an option decoder listed here:

http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp

your first two options are 437 comfort seat left and 438 comfort seat right

Also why is there only one code for the color? Other ones I'm seeing have two codes.

ernie; Isn't that your options sticker? If it is, they changed the codes after 1991, your eyes are old? Mine are so old my glasses need glasses. lol

bemrman; Don't know why there is only the one code, the first as in the sticker earnie posted is the exterior color, and the second is the interior....mine is LM3Z/LM3Z, denoting a special exterior color and interior color.

Sam, you may just have to wait for your books to arrive to have tht question answered.
