HI i just bought a 924s i was in the process of changing the starter i took the battery out. disconnected the leads from the battery to the starter removed one of the 2 bolts that hold it in place. well it looks like the other a 15mm bolt has had better days i can't get it off the open end keeps slipping off it is rounded a bit. has anyone had this problem and have a solution besides towing it to the nearest shop.. thanks any help would be appreciated.

I've had good luck on several rounded off bolts with THIS kit.
Worse case, a bolt removal kit where you bore out the bolt and remove it with another bit. Just make sure you use some penetrating oil (Kroil, PB Blaster) and let it sit a while before cranking on it. |

Thanks i will look into this ... the only problem is it dosen't show the size of the bolt in question 13mm then 19mm nothing in between... hmmm

IIRC it is an 18mm. Not a common size socket or wrench in everyones tool box.

Get a nice pair of vice grips on the bad end and crank down hard and if you can't get it loose by hand use a hammer gently to assist. You might want to heat it at the starter threads first and apply some BP blast.

thanks ... so far i got the irwin bolt removal kit but it doesn't have a 15mm one is up to 14mm and the next bigest is 16 to 19mm next i will try to cut it out with my dremell will see. what is this bp or pb blast stuff?
