shift knobs

Will the stock shifter accept a momo or sparco aftermarket shift knob if i cut the 1pc boot/shifter below the shifter part? or do i need a whole new short-throw shifter?

Thats what I was wondering. If I could cut the shift lever and then just use some adapter. Also has anyone changed their bushings on their shift levers? Has that helped?

I just took the biggest round plastic adapter that came with the shift knob and cut the inside to be rectangular (and slightly small) then installed it with a rubber mallet. Works fine and doesn't rattle.
