Manual steering - tie rod install question
I've done a manual steering rack conversion on my race car and am in process of installing the new tie rods. I have purchased Moog 378 inner rods and kept the later model outer ends. Just eyeballing the wheels straight I end up with about 20mm (3/4") of thread engagement on each tie rod end. Is this enough to hold a race car together?

The rule of thumb for strenght & threads is,
For male & female threads of same material, the male part will wring off or brake by tension before the threads pull out. from memory the threads are about 14mm or 1/2". 3/4" engagement ought to be good if it is under the clamp on adjusting tube.

I have a conversion using the moog 378 tie rod inners for a vw golf and the power steering outers. Stock manual tie rod assemblies are too short for a late model suspension.
