dead passenger side window

I have an 87 944 that I'm working out some bugs with. The passenger side window is dead. I have changed the power window relay, the window motor and regulator (used) but good, changed power window switches on both sides and still nothing. I used clarks garage and took a test light and checked the pins on the harness for the switch on the pass side I have power on one side but the other side has nothing. Someone has definitely been in there before as I have a solid blue wire and a blue and black wire that looks like it goes in to the power window switch but is just hanging there. I also checked for power on the motor and there is nothing. I also found a long narrow light brown plug in the door that is not plugged to any thing, what is that The drivers window works perfect. Now....when I try to roll down the pass window from the drivers side if I hold the button down it pops the fuse for the power windows. Please help.

James

I think since you're blowing the fuse when you try to put the window down from the driver's side that the hanging wires become hot when you hit the switch. Hopefully someone else has more to add, the only other thing to do is just suck it up and trace/figure out by hitting switches and watching for voltage with the meter.

Is it blowing the fuse straight away or after a while,my point being that it will be electrical or mechanical (in that order).
Trace the wiring back and check for the positive side grounding to the body if the fuse blows straight away.
Check the window tracks/guides for binding ,remove drive unit and see if it works without the window weight, the motors carbon up inside with dust from the brushes, the motor can be cleaned and the comutator polished.
You could open up the opposite side door and check the wiring against your troublesome one
Good luck.

Dead window

I had the same problem. Checked all the switches and motors with no success. What I found was a broken wire. where the door wiring comes out from behind the drivers side kick panel and goes into the door, there is a rubber boot over the wiring. Pull back the boot and check for broken wires.
