Headlights

Working on the headlights noticed that they do not come all the way up and stand firm aganst the adjusting bolt and nut located at the bottom, this is on a 1983 944 is there a way to make them rest on that bolt or is this the way they are, I can pull them up to that position, they just drop back to the same position, I am a newbe to the 944 porsche, any suggestions?

Go to Clarks_garage.com and go to garage, look up headlights and do what it says to do. Had a similar problem. I think the link is right, if not Google clarks garage.

On the pass. Headlight, remove the rubber boot from the motor. There should be a knob that turns to adj. the height of both. Just in case u didn't get to Clarks Garage. Would definitely bookmark that site. You'll be there a lot, as most "non-Porsche" shops just don't understand this bread of car. Including oil change, they won't touch mine. Hmmmm?

That's exactly the way I feel! That is, unless they would let me be there, basically right in their faces, supervising, while they completed the work.

Anyways, back to the topic, There are more adjustments than the end-stop bolt that you (JC) are referring to. Each of the 2 pivots near the top are mounted via 3 bolts that also have room for adjustment. Unless things are bent or out of whack from an accident, those 3 adjustments should be enough to line things up properly. Otherwise, the motor linkage needs to be adjusted.
