Anyone else catch the 924 refurb episode on "wheeler dealers"?
The show runs on the new channel called "velocity" (a discovery network channel), with new episodes airing on wednesdays @9pm eastern time. Reruns are airing all of the time though.
The show consists of a guy named Mike and his mechanic (sorry, but I can't recall HIS name right now), who buy/fix/turnover vehicles, with a budget of no more than 1K#. They bought an RHD (show is out of the UK) 924 (77, I think) for 700#, fixed it all up for an additional 300, not including labor, and sold it for 1500. It's a nice show to watch if you are into cars, but seeing them do a p-car was icing on the cake! EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention: Their specialty is "modern" classic cars.

Yeah I watch it all the time.
The mechanic is Ed China, the host and wheeler dealer is Mike Brewer, its run around 7 series now, we used to watch it back in the UK. They did a 944 Turbo too, Great car they turned into a day racer, ruined it for me but each to their own. |

Wildman
Wanted to add the money they have to spend changes depending which series they are in. The 924 was series 1. They did a Porsche Targa in series 4. They've also done a Ferrari Dino and an E type Jag, from memory. The current series (2011) is US based, they're doing a Charger, Delorean, Karman ghia amongst others. |

All re-runs from series 1&2 about a year ago on another channel. They never got to series 3 which had a 951, maybe this time. I think you can find the 951 episode on YouTube.

As discussed recently in this forum, you need to take the 'reality TV' aspect of that series with many, many grains of salt. They buy and sell 'and make a tidy profit', but only because Edd's labour isn't costed in any way.
Sometimes, as he explains, there's a good couple of weeks of labour in those restorations. Would cost a fortune at his regular professional rates! And the poor 'real world' buyers and sellers can hardly be making 'real world' deals under those TV cameras. Edd's the real star of the show. Mike just hams up the old Cockney street-seller routine for the cameras...
